The BRITE Center continues to teach me vital life skills, each and every day. I build and refine both my team and individual work ethic.  I greatly enjoy my volunteer time and the BRITE Center readily furthers my enthusiasm for learning. While I always knew I wanted to pursue statistics, I had no idea which area I wanted to specialize in until recently when Epidemiologist Dr. Susan Cochran referred me to the BRITE Center. My work at the Center sparked my interest in health-related fields and now I plan to combine my love of data analysis with my newfound interest in reducing health disparities.  Analyzing data from the Los Angeles County jail system to target the rehabilitation needs of inmates is one of my daily tasks at the BRITE Center that truly inspired me to use my analytical skills to better the lives of those around me.

I learned not just how to research, but also about the various disparities of health between different minorities in the Los Angeles area. Because of my experience at the BRITE Center, I want to further pursue a career in health so I can reduce the health disparities between different ethnicities and benefit people as a whole.

I am learning how to create resources for other organizations and the general public to utilize. I also realized research is extremely important because it takes time and effort to find the best answer and solution to any question or problem. The BRITE center has taught me to be patient and optimistic that I will find what I am searching for. I am passionate about helping people provide for others so they may thrive. The BRITE center has reinforced my ambitions to have a career in medicine and become health advocate. I want to be the solution to the health disparities people face today.

The Center has given me an opportunity to learn about obstacles that different ethnic groups face in health care and helpful community resources available. My experience in the BRITE Center has shown me new ways that pharmacists can care for patients beyond the counter.

My experience working at the BRITE center has opened by eyes to the large number of resources available to serve the Los Angeles community. I have also learned more about diversity within different Los Angeles populations. As an aspiring dentist, working at the BRITE center has reminded me of the importance of serving underprivileged communities and has encouraged me to incorporate community outreach into my practice someday.
